Each year the city of Rialto, under the impetus of mayor Deborah Robertson, hires a commercial company to come to the city park and set up a temporary ice skating rink from the middle of December through the first week in January. Heavy truck-mounted refrigeration units keep the rink surface frozen (it was 83 degrees when the accompanying photos were taken on December 27th).
Cost is $10.00 for 1.5 hours of skating with skates renting for $3.00 and socks renting for $3.00. Limited snacks are available for a price.
