Evil scientist Skagra wants to imprint his mind on all beings in the cosmos. To do this he needs to know where the planet Shada is. On Shada is a prison colony used to imprison would be conquerors of the universe. One of these prisoners is Salyavin. With Salyavin’s help Skagra may get his way.
The whereabouts of Shada are written in an ancient Gallifreyan book. That book is in the possession of Time Lord Dr Chronotis, a professor at St Cedd’s College, Cambridge. Unfortunately Dr Chronotis gives the book by mistake to one of his students Chris. Fortunately Dr Who and Romana are visiting Cambridge and assist Dr Chronotis. Skagra arrives in Cambridge and deploys thought draining silver spheres in his quest for the book.
There are several location shots in Cambridge with Skagra pursuing the Doctor and the Doctor cycling around Cambridge trying to avoid the thought draining spheres.
