The sundial is located atop Fred Spilman's headstone, at the south end of the cemetery. The dial plate features the sun and a depiction of fleeting time in the form of an hourglass with wings, and an inscription of "I count none but sunny hours." Roman numerals are around the top of the dial, with a typical gnomon.
There is no reference to Mr. Spilman's birth or death dates, and there is only a simple inscription: "A wise man strives a soul to win for Jesus Christ who died for him."
