The stump is located in Worthington Park, a public park that opened in 1900 purchased with funds donated by Mrs Mary Worhington.

The park is looked after by the Friends of Worthington Park in conjunction with Trafford Council.

When a number of dangerous trees had to be partly felled the commissioned Tim Burgess, a chainsaw artist to decorate three of the trees as an attraction for the park.

This multi storey apartment block named 'A Lived In Tree' is one of his creations.
