SILESIA PARK in Chorzow is an unsurpassed oasis of green in the heart of Silesian agglomeration in Poland’s most highly industrialised region. For more than 60 years, recreational walkers and tourists as well as those wanting to spend their leisure time more actively, have all been able to enjoy what the park has to offer.
Silesia Park lies on the border of Siemianowice Slaskie, Chorzów and Katowice and is spread over an area of 620 hectares. Forested areas cover 250ha and 100ha are tended greens and parklands. Ponds, streams, numerous species of trees and shrubs as well as extensive greens form a friendly refuge for wild animals (mammals, fish, birds, amphibians and reptiles), which live in this unique area adjoining the inhabitants of the Silesian Zoo.
SILESIA PARK also supports an unparalleled diversity of tourist attractions and entertainment areas. Participate in a session at the Silesian Planetarium and follow it with a visit to the legendary Silesian Stadium, which is currently being modernised – a unique marriage of Earth and Space in one day. The “Explorado” Explorers’ Park and the Silesian Amusement Park, in turn, offer children and adults the opportunity to learn and have great fun all at the same time. Take a step back in time at the Upper Silesian Ethnographic Park and the areas around the ”Kapelusz” (Hat) Exhibition Hall, where Silesian architecture dating back 60 to 160 years ago will give you a real picture of life in times gone by at the same time as being able to visit the many restaurants and cafes.
A well-developed hotel infrastructure, close proximity to the A4 Motorway and the Drogowa Trasa Srednicowa (Central Orbital Highway) as well as easy access by public transport from the centres of both Katowice and Chorzow make visiting the Silesian Park of Culture and Recreation a breeze.
