EN: The Reformed Church of Gelterkinden is the landmark of the village. It is located on a rocky spur on the eastern edge of the village and visible over a long distance.

The history of the Church has not yet been fully explored. It was first mentioned in the 11th century. The choir dates from the 14th century, the nave and the tower were built in the end of the 15th century. Despite some subsequent expansions and renovations, the church remains a late Gothic work, which hardly occurs in this completeness in the canton of Basel-Country. The recently discovered fragments of frescoes from the 14th and 15th century emphasize the importance of the structure. The Gothic architecture and the baroque interior, which is preserved to a large extent, make the church one of the most valuable historic monuments in the canton.

DE: Die reformierte Kirche von Gelterkinden ist das Wahrzeichen des Dorfes. Sie befindet sich weithin sichtbar auf einem Hügelsporn am östlichen Dorfrand.

Die Geschichte der Kirche ist nocht vollständig erforscht. Erstmals erwähnt wurde sie im 11. Jahrhundert. Der Chor stammt noch aus dem 14. Jahrhundert; das Langhaus und der Turm wurden Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts erbaut. Trotz der späteren Erweiterungen und Umbauten bleibt die Kirche im Wesentlichen ein Werk der Spätgotik, das in dieser Vollständigkeit im Kanton Basel-Landschaft kaum noch vorkommt. Die vor kurzem entdeckten Fragmente von Fresken aus dem 14. und 15. Jahrhundert unterstreichen die Bedeutung des Bauwerks. Die gotische Architektur und die barocke Innenausstattung, die weit gehend erhalten ist, machen die Kirche zu einem der wertvollsten Baudenkmäler im Kanton.
