The plaque says, "Caracharocles megalodon lived from the Miocene to Pliocene periods (17 to 13 million years ago). We can tell many things about this ancient shark from its teeth.
Caracharocles megalodon which are now extinct, fed primarily on small whaled. Its length is estimated to have been about 50 feet. It is now throughout to be related to mako sharks, but some have called it Caracharocles megalodon referring to the modern white shark lineage.
Sharks are constantly replacing their teeth. They may loos thousands of teeth in their lifetime, which explains why fossil teeth are so readily found all over the world.
