The following information about Alexander Brest is from his obituary in the Orlando Sentinel:
"Brest, a philanthropist who said he was put on Earth to give away money, is dead at 101. Brest, who made his fortune as an engineer and owner of a television station, helped fund a planetarium, an art gallery, a large city park and Jacksonville University. He had been in failing health and was found dead in his Jacksonville home by his nurse Monday afternoon. Brest was a self-made multi-millionaire who founded an engineering and contracting company that built more than 2,000 miles of roads and streets before it was sold. He also built the first road to Cape Canaveral's first missile-launching platform. With two other large companies, he helped build Jacksonville Naval Air Station and other military facilities in the state."
