50 people gathered on April 25, 1828 at the Fordway School and organized themselves into a Society for the promotion of Baptist preaching's. In 1830 they built a meeting house at the Corner at the end of Salem Rd. In 1868 there were 27 people now wished to form a Baptist Church, they solicited funds from The Tavern and Mr Talbot stepped forward and built this church.
