Harbor Belt Line
San Pedro Yard Office
Built in the 1940's, this building once served as the San Pedro yard office of the Harbor Belt Line Railroad. It was located near the corner of Harbor Blvd. & 7th Street in San Pedro. It provided a place to process paperwork, telephone the dispatcher, and conduct other company business.
The last of many railroad-owned buildings in the San Pedro area, it was burned by vandals in late 1979. Considered to be restorable, it was donated to the Museum by Harbor Belt Line owner Southern Pacific Railway.
The building was dismantled on site by Museum volunteers and moved to Perris in pieces. It was rebuilt by Museum volunteers in 1981; most of the original structure was reused, although some of the windows and doors had to be replaced.
