Mark Twain was born on November 30, 1835 in Florida, Missori, and died April 21, 1910 in Redding, Connecticut. He lived much of his childhood in Hannibal, Missori, which was the inspiration for his works The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. During his life he traveled the world, writing, and lecturing, and then he met his wife. Twain moved his family to Hartford, Connecticut and began spending summers in Elmira, NY at his wife's homestead. He wrote a majority of his most famous works at his study during his summers in Elmira. He is buried here with his wife, children, and his wife's family.
On September 24, 1976 N. Chernykh discovered the 2362 Mark Twain Main Belt Asteroid at The Crimean Astrophysical Observatory in Ukraine.
