This station, a microwave communications tower, is an intersecting type, located on a peak of Depot Hill, in the Poughquag/Green Haven region of Beekman, NY, in Dutchess County.
The NGS published adjusted coordinates are
N41 34' 21.7395" W073 40' 53.33326", or
N41 34.361899' and W073 40.888888'
The tower is at the end of Depot Hill Road, which is now fully paved. Just beyond the end of the road is a dirt road leading to the Appalachian Trail.
The 1966 NGS description is as follows:
THE STATION IS THE RED LIGHT ATOP A LARGE METAL TOWER WHICH IS
163 FEET IN HEIGHT AND PAINTED ALTERNATELY RED AND WHITE.
THE STATION IS LOCATED 3.4 MILES EAST OF STORMVILLE, 2.5 MILES
SOUTH OF POUGHQUAG AND 1.9 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF GREEN HAVEN.
TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE POST OFFICE IN STORMVILLE, GO
NORTHWEST ON A PAVED STREET FOR 0.2 MILE TO ITS JUNCTION WITH
STATE HIGHWAY 216. TURN RIGHT AND GO NORTHEAST ON STATE HIGHWAY
216 FOR 4.2 MILES TO A SIDE ROAD RIGHT. TURN RIGHT AND GO SOUTH
ON DEPOT HILL ROAD FOR 0.9 MILE TO THE END OF THE PAVED
ROAD. CONTINUE SOUTH ON A GRAVELED ROAD FOR 1.1 MILES TO THE
TOWER ON THE RIGHT, WEST, SIDE OF THE ROAD.
The tower itself is fenced in on private property. As described, the intersecting point is the light at the top of the tower. It can be seen from quite a distance in many different directions.
Due to the exceptional accuracy of adjusted coordinates, and the inaccessible location of the intersecting point here, the NGS published coordinates are used.
