Stretching southwest from the boat launching facility to the outer breakwater, this nice beach is a decided contrast to most Pacific Coast beaches with their crashing surf. The waters in this outer harbor are well protected and remain quite calm during most weather patterns. In contrast to this quiet beach, several miles farther north is Mavericks, the site of major surfing championship competitions.
