Anne Devlin was working as a housekeeper for Robert Emmet, the leader of 1803 uprising. After the uprising failed, she has been arrested but she refused to cooperate with the police and spent three years in prison.
The monument in Rathfarnham Village was unveiled by the mayor of South Dublin in March 2004. It is a lifesize bronze statue of Anne Devlin in plain cloth and barefooted, looking south to her native Wicklow Mountains.
