The bell, located outside of St. Paul's Chapel, was a gift from the City of London in memory of the lives taken on September 11th, 2001. The bell weighs 650lbs and is 31inches wide. It was cast by the Whitechapel Bell Foundary. The City of London donated it to the City of New York in 2002.
The inscription reads:
"To the greater glory of God and in recognition of the enduring links between the City of London and the city of New York. Forged in adversity - September 11, 2001."
