Location: Parker Memorial Cemetery has a Texas Historical Marker with a little bit of background:
The first burial here is thought to be that of Christina Driskill (1797-1862), whose son-in-law Isaac Green Parker (1816-1875) owned the land. In 1881 Parker's widow, Mary (Polly) Parker Turner (1820-1897) deeded the 4.31-acre plot for a public burial ground. A tabernacle was erected in 1928 and used at first for funeral services and later for meetings of the cemetery association. Formerly known as "Clements Cemetery", it was renamed "Parker" in 1937. Many members of the Pleasant Glade Community are buried here. (1979)
The Handbook of Texas Online has this to say about Pleasant Glade, whose Baptist Church survives today, along with a busy road off of TX 121, Glade Road. Mr. Bidault's home has its own Texas Historical Marker as well.
Pleasant Glade, also known as Glade, was located ten miles northeast of Fort Worth in northeastern Tarrant County. Pleasant Glade, Pleasant Run, and Colleyville were organized in the area in the 1880s. Pleasant Glade had a church and a school. French horticulturist Anthelm Bidault planted an orchard near the community in the 1890s. Pleasant Glade was bypassed by the railroads and highway construction and disappeared sometime after 1940.
