Corning Inc wasn't always Corning Inc. The company had a slow start in Massachusetts, then Moved on the New York City. In financial distress the business moved to Corning, NY, became the Corning Glass Works, and never looked back. Now Corning Inc, the company has been on the front lines of innovation and technology, and has made everything from light bulbs and window glass to Pyrex and thermometer tubing. In 1970 Corning Inc invented the first commercially viable fiber optic, and they are still leading the market. Today, technology is driving the way for industry and Corning has led the way again. Gorilla glass, also invented by Corning Inc, is used in all types of electronic devices: such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops. They are traded on the NYSE under GLW.
