The First Presbyterian Church was constructed beginning with 1871 with the cornerstone laying on July 4. Within the cornerstone were the names of the 117 members of the church at the time, the last name on the list is that of Miss Mary Elizabeth McCormick who, in 1950, was the only surviving member of the church whose name was in the cornerstone. The stone church is in a Gothic Revival style with arched windows and entrances. The church was completed in 1875 except for the spire with the spire and bell being added in 1892. The education wing was added in 1952.
The church building is in excellent condition and continues to serve its active congregation.
