The Gordon-Roberts House also known as the History House was built in 1867 for Josiah Gordon, a prominent Cumberland attorney. The three story brick house is in a Second Empire style. The house has a mansard with gable dormers.

Following the death of Mr. Gordon the house was purchased by the W. Milnor Roberts II family, who lived in the house for more than 60 years. Mr. Roberts was an engineer and businessman.

The house was purchased by the Allegany County Historical Society in 1954 from the Roberts estate. It is operated as a house museum and open for public tours.
