Most of the space for this park was a bank building that fell into disrepair. The building was razed and the space was (is being) converted into a park.

The J.C. Penney Museum just up the street will tell you all you want to know about the Penney enterprise, the man and the history of him in this town.
The Penney childhood home is part of this park, was just across the street from the bank, now a tree lined lane to the house.
If you would like to visit the house, go to the museum and they will give you the key. If they have enough help a the time, they will even guide you
Some local mill stones are on the lane
and a very neat weather vane...spinning away when I visited.
