The First Presbyterian Church was constructed in 1825. The building is in a Greek Revival style with an Ionic portico with four columns. The building is brick which has been plaster and painted a pale yellow. Historic photos show that at one time the building had a high bell tower or steeple which has been removed.

The history of the First Presbyterian Church dates to 1812. The church was built on land donated by Noah Zane, the son of the founder of Wheeling, in 1816. The church was expanded in 1854 and then again in 1871. The church has had extensive restoration work over the years and is in excellent condition.

The building is a contributing building in the Wheeling Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places.

It has an active congregation and services are held each Sunday.
