Named for a 12 year old son of Wyoming's Territorial governor, this was a favorite stop on early tours of Yellowstone and it still is a highly frequented stop in the southern part of the park.
Here, the Firehole River passes a group of cascades, descending a total 150 ft. The highest single step is 50 ft.
If you move on from here to Lewis Falls, notice you’ll cross the Continental Divide. The water passing Kepler Cascadeds flows down the Firehole River and through Missouri and Mississippi into the Golf of Mexico and eventually into the Atlantic Ocean, while the water passing Lewis Falls only a couple of miles away takes its path via Lewis and Snake River into the Columbia River and eventually into the Pacific Ocean.
