The town hall of Bad Frankenhausen is almost 200 years old. The original town hall, which dated back to the time of the Peasants War burned to the grounds in 1833 in a city-wide fire that destroyed 171 buildings.

A new town hall was build the following year under the supervision of building inspector Bleichrodt.

The building was damaged at the end of World War II, when a fire destroyed most of the town archives.

It has been beautifully restored and is located in the center of town at 1 Market Place.
