The Eskridge Hotel was built in 1907 and operated as a hotel from that time until the early 1970s. Located along the Santa Fe railroad route, it was known as the best hotel between Oklahoma City and Dallas, and was famous for its delicious chicken dinners.

In 1973, the Wynnewood Historical Society purchased the building and establish this museum. The three floors have many pieces of original furniture and decorative items, and rooms have been furnished to display various aspects of early pioneer life. Rooms are set up as a schoolroom, post office, chapel, funeral parlor, hotel room, barbershop, general store, doctor's office and dress shop. Other exhibits are of Native American and black history from the area, photographs, music and dolls, and there is a genealogical library on the premises also.

The hotel was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It is also reported to be haunted and research groups investigating have encountered paranormal activity.
