Die Ökostation der LBV-Kreisgruppe Hof entstand 1995. Bis zum Jahr 2000 wurde die Umweltpädagogik auf den etwa 7 ha Fläche und in einer kleinen Holzhütte betrieben. Seit 2001 besitzt die Kreisgruppe zusätzlich ein zweistöckiges Gebäude, das gemäß den Kriterien für nachhaltiges Bauen und zu über 90 % aus heimischem Holz errichtet wurde. Zu den Besonderheiten zählen unter anderem eine Erdwäremheizung, eine Warmwassersolaranlage, eine Photovoltaikanlage und eine Regenwasserspeicheranlage.
Als besondere Attraktion wurde 2002 eine Unterwasserbeobachtungsstation neu errichtete. Im Jahr 2005 war eine Flächenerweiterung auf etwa 14 ha durch den Ankauf eines benachbarten Grundstücks mit drei großen Teichen möglich. Die LBV-Ökostation Helmbrechts ist seit April 2006 Träger der Dachmarke Umweltbildung.Bayern und wurde im Januar 2007 als offizielle bayerische Umweltbildungsstation anerkannt.
Es gibt in diesem Gebiet 2 Beobachtungstürme; die Koordinate bezieht sich auf den Eingang zum Verwaltungsgebäude.

The Oekostation the LBV group county court was created in 1995. Until 2000, the environmental education was operated on about 7 acres and in a small wooden hut. Since 2001, the county group has an additional two-story building , which was built from local timber according to the criteria for sustainable construction and to over 90%. The special features include a Erdwäremheizung , a solar hot water system , a photovoltaic system and a rain water storage system.
As a special attraction , an underwater observation station was newly built in 2002 . In 2005 an area of about 14 ha extension through the purchase of a neighboring property with three large ponds was possible. LBV Oekostation works in a kind of environment-education since 2006 .There are two observation towers in this area , the coordinate refers to the entrance to the administration building.
