The building is not terribly indicative of the condition of this chapter of The Grange. Though we were told that they were inactive, the Grange website tells us that they meet the 1st Tuesday at 7:00pm. The hall, however, looks as though it should have been condemned some time ago.
Originally a men's wear store, it later became a card and pool hall. In the 1950s it became a dance hall with Grange sponsored Saturday night dances for 30 cents. Now a Grange Hall, it hosts everything from school plays to funerals and wedding receptions.
This sign was affixed to the west end of the hall in order that passersby might know a bit of the history of the venerable old building.
The sign:
GRANGE HALL
AT ONE TIME THIS WILDING WAS A MEN'S
CLOTHING STORE AND LATER A CARD AND POOL HALL.
IN THE 1950s It BECAME A POPULAR DANCE HALL
WITH GRANGE SPONSORED SATURDAY
NIGHIT DANCES FOR 30 CENTS.
NOW AS A GRANGE HALL
IT IS ALSO USED FOR EVERYTHING
FROM NORTHPORT SCHOOLS
PLAY PERFORMANCES TO FUNERALS
AND WEDDING RECEPTIONS.
County: Stevens County
Chapter Name (number): 928

Visit Instructions:
To post a visit to an existing Grange Hall waymark, you will need to post a picture of the front of the building, with the name of the chapter in the background if that is possible. Including your gps device in the picture is not neccesary, but wouldn't be cause for disapproval. If your Grange Hall has any unusual or unique features that you feel others would enjoy viewing, additional pictures are always welcome.
