First Grayson County Courthouse built here in 1794. Land donated by Flower Swift. Second courthouse built in 1838. This courthouse still stands today. County Seat moved to Independence in 1850. Listed on National Register Of Historic Places in 1997. Located on Greenville Rd west of Galax. Area was known as Greenville, then later as Old Town.
