La maison devant laquelle vous vous trouvez est sans doute le plus vieux bâtiment existant sur le territoire de Candiac. Nos recherches nous apprennent que c’est Monsieur Chevalier de la Corne, prmier commandant de La Prairie qui l’aurait fait construire en 1747, comme en fait foi une pierre gravée en dessous de la porte.
Puis on apprend qu’à partir de 1860, deux familles l’ont habitée : les Brosseau jusqu’en 1910 puis les Lefort jusqu’en 1945. Durant cette période, tout porte à croire que la maison a eu une vocation agricole. En 1945, le docteur Melançon s’en ai porté acquereur pour en faire sa résidence secondaire. Vingt trois ans plus tard, sa veuve la vend à la ville de Candiac.

The house in front of which you are probably the oldest existing building in the territory of Candiac. Our research tells us that Mr. Knight Horn prmier commander of La Prairie would built in 1747, as evidenced by an engraved below the stone door.
Then we learn that from 1860, two families have lived: the Brosseau until 1910 and then until 1945 Lefort. During this period, it is likely that the house was used for agricultural purposes. In 1945, Dr. Melançon have focused purchaser to make his second home. Twenty three years later, his widow sold it to the city of Candiac.
