Alexander Archipenko was an active cubist sculptor who was interested in portraying the human form in an abstract manner. In the fascinating Queen of Sheba sculpture he uses unusual structural elements to convey the impression of a female form. The sculpture has a central vertical element to represent the body. A remaining tilted and flowing elements suggest clothing in motion. It rests on the floor in the corner of the Museum's terrace.

The 5.5' high bronze sculpture was created by Archipenko in 1961 and was acquired by the New Britain Museum of American Art in 2007. A nearby bronze plaque is inscribed:
