The piece is made from 1968 pieces of guns from a 1968 gun buy back program in San Francisco. After assassinations of Kennedy and MLK, San Francisco mayor Alioto, started the program to buy back guns. Pacifist artist Benny Bufano, used the guns to make this 9 ft sculpture of a religious figure with his arms stretched out.
