The Maarsserbrug, locally also called "Hoge Brug" (high bridge) was built in 1938 to replace two old bridges across the Merwedekanaal (now Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal).
The bridge is the main connection for people living in Maarssen-Dorp to go the other part of the village, Maarssenbroek including the train station of Maarssen.
The bridge was damaged in 1945, after the liberation of the Netherlands in the second World War.
In 2006, the bridge was completly renovated.
