This angel sculpture is placed in a little "nook" in the landscaping behind the northwest corner of the Riverfront Park Carousel building. The angel symbolizes hope for parents who are grieving over lost children. I was unable to read the artist's inscribed name, but included a photo of it.
Next to the angel is a dedication plaque. The right side of the plaque is a list of contributors, but the left side reads as follows:
ANGEL OF HOPE
MAY ANYONE WHO HAS EVER FELT THE LOSS OF A CHILD FIND THIS PLACE TO MOURN AND HEAL. THE ANGEL OF HOPE WAS INTRODUCED IN THE BOOK, THE CHRISTMAS BOX, BY AUTHOR RICHARD PAUL EVANS. MR. EVANS COMMISSIONED THE FIRST ANGEL OF HOPE SCULPTURE IN RESPONSE TO REPORTS THAT GRIEVING PARENTS WERE SEEKING A PLACE TO MOURN AND HEAL AND TO CELEBRATE THE LIVES OF THEIR CHILDREN. |
