The circular Franklin impact crater is 56 km in diameter and is on the north east part of the visible side of the moon.
Benjamin Franklin was an accomplished American scientist, inventor, printer, author, publisher, satirist, demographer, patriot, politician, political theorist, social activist, diplomat and statesman - a true polymath.
Franklin was born in Boston on January 17, 1706 and ran away to Philadelphia when he was 17 years old to escape an conflict with his apprenticeship with his brother. In Philadelphia Franklin achieved fame as a unique genius.
An unusual bust of Benjamin Franklin is located in his adopted city of Philadelphia. A bust of Franklin cast from more than 1,000 keys collected by Philadelphia schoolchildren reaches 9' high on top of a brick wall in front of the Girard Fountain Park. The sculpture is called "Keys to Community" by it's creator James Peniston. It was installed in 2007.
