Torbrunnen in Nittenau/Oberpfalz - Fountains on Waymarking.com

In the small village of Nittenau this fountain can be visited. It is located at the market place and called "Torbrunnen" because of the door (Tor)of the so called "Storchenturm" in the back. The fountain was placed here at 2005 as a sign beside the fountain says. It explains:
With an imperial document of Heinrich II from 1007 Nittenau was first time named. The glaswindow in the fountains shows the Imperator with a golden crown and a lance. The glas was made in a special way, called "Fusingglastechnik".
An old engraving shows three doorways to the city of Nittenau, which was well armed. Water falls down from the granite-doorbow into the pool like rain. Granite means genesis and presence. This artwork shall be used to find silence and as a meetingpoint and place of communication.

Im kleine Städtchen Nittenau findet sich dieser schöne und außergewöhnliche Brunnen, genannt "Torbrunnen". Er befindet sich auf dem Marktplatz unweit des Storchenturmes, welcher auch im Hintergund der Fotos teilweise zu sehen ist. Der Brunnen wurde 2005 hier aufgestellt. Designed hat ihn der Künster Erwin Otte aus Reuth. Auf einer kleinen Tafel neben dem Brunnen am Boden wird erläutert:
Mit kaiserlicher Urkunde Heinrichs II wurde Nittenau im Jahre 1007 erstmals erwähnt. Dargestellt ist der Kaiser in Fusingglastechnik mit heiliger Lanze und goldener Krone. Ein Merianstich belegt, dass drei Tore in die gut befestigte Stadt führten. Der aus Granit gefertigte Torbrunnen lässt das Wasser als "Regen" ins Becken fallen. Granit steht für Ursprung und Gegenwart. Ein Kunstwerk, das als Ruhezone zum verweilen und zur Kommunikation einlädt.
