Mary dite la Bolduc Travers
Mary Travers, connue sous le nom de son mari (Édouard Bolduc), eut une influence considérable sur la culture populaire québécoise en tant qu'auteure-compositrice-interprète. De 1929 à 1939, elle enregistra près de 100 chansons qu'elle avait composées. Sa façon nouvelle d'aborder l'actualité, la critique sociale et les relations homme-femme, alliée à sa manière caractéristique de « turluter », la propulsèrent au rang de vedette. Plusieurs tournées effectuées au Québec, en Ontario, au Nouveau- Brunswick et dans le nord de la Nouvelle-Angleterre renforcèrent sa popularité.
Mary 'la Bolduc' Travers
Mary Travers, a singer-songwriter who went by the name of her husband ( Édouard Bolduc), had a tremendous impact on Quebec popular culture. From 1929 to 1939, she recorded close to 100 songs that she had composed herself. La Bolduc's novel approach to current events, social conditions and male-female relationships, combined with her unique singing style, swept her to the heights of stardom. Her impact was reinforced through several tours in Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick and the northern New England states.
