This Googie sign has a large red arrow shape pointing to the motel. Although the neon has long since disappeared from the sign and the holes through which the neon tubes passed have been filled and painted over, the old sign is still in use. It appears that SANDMAN wasn't the original name of the motel as the patched neon around the SANDMAN portion of the name doesn't line up with the letters. The MOTEL portion of the sign appears to be original as the neon tube holes do line up with these letters.
