This park protects and preserves an exemplary natural ecosystem. The park has two major springs, a spring run and numerous sinkholes, which are in near-pristine condition. These are part of an underwater cave system, believed to be one of the longest in the continental United States. About 28,000 feet of its underwater passages have been explored and surveyed by cave divers.
Recreational activities include swimming, picnicking and certified diving.
