This was originally a coach house 1753. The village is sited on a very busy road and near to the main routes to and from Sheffield.
The Wortley Arms own website is very informative and extensive.

The public house is Grade II listed under Barnsley although the Wortley Arms web site lists it as Sheffield.

The Wortley family whose crest forms the sign goes back a long time in the village and there is a web site giving information about them. Some of the families are buried in St. Leonard's churchyard virtually opposite the establishment.
