I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey Azimuth Mark from 1971 in good condition. This AZ is part of a benchmark series titled 'PAISLEY SOUTH BASE RESET' that originated with a station mark monumented in 1920 and later destroyed, then reset in 1971 and then destroyed again per the 2001 log description from the NGS datasheet.

This AZ (and now-destroyed RM 2 & 3 marks) were established in 1971 after the triangulation station was found destroyed in 1966. My posted coordinates will place you very close to this mark. The NGS datasheet description is adequate for disk recovery.

NGS datasheet description from 1984:

AZIMUTH NO 1 IS A STANDARD AZIMUTH MARK DISK STAMPED---PAISLEY SOUTH
BASE 1920 1971---, SET INTO THE TOP OF A 30 CM IN DIAMETER CONCRETE
MONUMENT THAT PROJECTS 15 CM ABOVE THE GROUND. IT IS 13.5 METERS (44.3
FT) NORTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE ROAD 0.6 METER (2.0 FT) WEST OF A
METAL WITNESS POST AND 0.45 METER (1.48 FT) SOUTH FROM A FENCE. THE
STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 1.4 KM (0.85 MI) NORTH NORTHEAST OF PAISLEY
ON THE NORTH SIDE OF AN EAST WEST ROAD. TO REACH FROM THE POST OFFICE
