I recovered this U.S. Geological Survey benchmark from 1963 in very good condition. It is monumented on top of a square 8 x 8" concrete post that projects about four inches above the ground. The monument lies about 60 feet east of Red House Rd (County Hwy 2-07). The disk face is stamped with the designation '3 DOR' and elevation stamping of '4353' feet and the year '1963'. This mark does not exist in the NGS database but was recovered after seeing it on a topography map listed as 'BM 4353'. There are also a few wooden sticks lying near the mark that must have been used as witness posts. My posted coordinates will place you very close to this mark.

*NOTE* This mark is one of three benchmarks that lie along this road. Unfortunately, this was the only mark I recovered. Attempts were made to recover the two previous marks west of this mark but a thorough search with a metal detector did not recover anything. They might have been compromised when underground cables were installed along this road a number of years ago.
