Dare County Regional Airport was built around 1942. Besides serving as a regional airport on Roanoke Island the airport also hosts Flywright Aviation, Kitty Hawk Tours (Biplane tours of the Outer Banks) and the Airport Museum. The airport is also located very close to the North Carolina Aquarium.
