Charlie Brown Farms, in addition to being just about every kind of tourist trap known to man, serves the best Texas-style barbecue this side of heaven. The meat is so good that only the ribs and chicken come coated with sauce. The tri-tip sandwich beats anything served in Santa Maria (home of tri-tip BBQ) hands down. If you have any aversion to fat at all, this is not the place for you. Not overly fatty but the beef is just bursting with good smoked flavor because of its generous amount of included fat and juices. Anyone passing within 100 miles of this place has just got to make the required detour for this great BBQ.
Side dishes are OK but nothing to brag about. But who needs sides when you've got the best meat going? You order at the register then have lots of time to wander the store checking out all the snacks, candy, ice cream and kitschy souvenirs until they call your number when your order is ready. A limited amount of indoor seating but turnover is rather quick since you're not occupying a table while your food is prepared.
