In 1949 after completing his service in the Navy, Alan Ebert purchased what is now Springdale Farms. The barn has been there ever since, sitting to the rear, next to the farmhouse.

While I was at the farmstead snapping pictures (08 16 13; 8:55 AM, EDT) I met up with Tom, one of the owners who told me this is the original barn from 1949. The barn looks somewhat traditional, made of vertically placed boards of wood and painted red. There is nothing particularly interesting about the barn except that it is used and active, but not for conventional uses. There is all kinds of cr@p stuffed in there. The barn doors have been moved and vehicles are also stored in there, not a bale of hay or a brown cow in site. The barn is in good shape however and adds nicely to the overall landscape of the farmstead.
