NZ0188 - USCGS 'O 6' Tidal BM - Ashland, OR - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey tidal BM from 1920 in good condition. It is monumented on the SW corner of a concrete headwall over a tunnel that goes under railroad tracks (Recycle Center St). This NGS benchmatk is also listed on a topography map as 'BM 1856'. The disk face is stamped with an elevation of '1855.876' and a designation of 'O 6' as well as the year '1920'. The NGS datasheet is adequate for station recovery and the posted NGS coordinates should place you very close to this mark. The only change in the datasheet description is that Water Street is now Recycle Center St.

AT ASHLAND, 0.5 MILE NORTHWEST ALONG THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY RAILROAD FROM THE STATION, AT CONCRETE BRIDGE 429.47 OVER WATER STREET, IN THE TOP OF THE SOUTHEAST END OF THE SOUTHWEST CONCRETE HEAD WALL, 8.8 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE SOUTHWEST RAIL OF THE MAIN TRACK, AND ABOUT 1 FOOT HIGHER THAN THE TRACK.
