A plaque on the pavment in front of the millstone reads "Millstone from the home garden of Wallace Nutting and Mariet G. Nutting. Framingham, Massachusetts. Devoted friends of Berea College. November 1947"

In addition to the millstone being of more than usual thickness the furrow pattern on the stone is also interesting being a swirl in design.
