The Mississippi County courthouse is on the site of an 1901 courthouse which was destroyed by fire on February 10, 1997 and subsequently demolished. The current courthouse was completed in 1999. It was designed by architect Mary A. Bell of the firm William A. Green and Associates. The two story brick courthouse has many features similar to the 1901 courthouse.

The clock has a white face with black hands and black Arabic numbers. The clock has four faces. The clock has accurate time.
