Highland Park Cemetery is owned and operated by Pinecrest Cemetery in Nepean. Highland Park was essentially a 1978 expansion of that larger urban cemetery. While the cemetery dates from 1978, the first burials took place in the mid-1980s. The Ottawa Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society published a record of monumental inscriptions for the Pinecrest Cemetery. That same publication included monumental inscriptions recorded in Highland Park in 1992. The Highland Park monuments totalled only 73 burials by 1992. There have been hundreds of burials since that time.
