The First Presbyterian Church congregation in Potsdam was founded in 1811. The first permanent church, known as the White Church, was built in 1821, and replaced by a brick church in 1857. This church in turn was replaced by the present structure in 186, which was dedicated in 1872.
Services have been conducted continuously since then.
