The Hartford Courant is Connecticut's largest daily newspaper. It is also the oldest continuously published newspaper in the United States. The paper was originally called the Connecticut Courant and started published weekly on October 29, 1764, thereby claiming the title as the oldest in the U.S. Its slogan is "older than the nation". The word Courant is a old Dutch term for an English language newspaper.
