This trailhead is about 8 km. south of the northern end of the Slocan Valley Rail Trail, and about 7 km. south on Highway 6 from Slocan City. The trailhead is at the end of Kennedy Road, which heads west off the highway for 800 metres before reaching the rail trail. For those who prefer an 8 km. ride to a 50 km. ride, this serves as a starting/ending point. It is the first access point to the trail south of its northern terminus.

The Slocan Valley Rail Trail comprises 50 km. of what was once the Slocan Valley Railway, running from the CPR mainline at South Slocan in the south to Nakusp on Upper Arrow Lake in the north. The Rail Trail runs up the Slocan Valley alongside the Slocan River to Slocan City on Slocan Lake. The Slocan River flows southerly down the valley and empties into the Kootenay at Shoreacres, south of the southern trailhead.

This Rail Trail is intended for non-motorized use only - horses, hikers and bikers. Parking is available at the trailhead.
